UMNO Giving out RM5.25 Million in Prizes!

Umno Members Stand To Win Prizes Totalling RM5.25 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) — At the Umno General Assembly next week, party members registered as voters with the Election Commission (EC), will stand to win prizes totalling RM5.25 million.

Umno executive secretary Datuk Husainay Hashim told Bernama this today.

He also said that Umno members who had registered with the EC would also receive membership cards. Umno had issued 2.8 million membership cards and would deliver them to those who had registered with the EC tomorrow, he said.

“For Umno members who have yet to register, we will provide the facility for them to do so during the assembly and the membership card will be made for them,” he said.

He also said that during the assembly, national spacemen Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Sheikh Mustapha and Dr Mohd Faiz Khaleed would present a flag to Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Discussion:

Woot! Where do I sign up?
Seriously though, I wonder if the money comes from private donations, or from the government coffers.
Other than that, if you’re an UMNO member that attended the meeting, can you please share with us how the money was given away? Lucky draw, keris-waving competition or what?

Anyway, I’m glad the UMNO General Assembly will be under way soon. If past history is anything to go by, I will have lots of stuff to write about soon. :)

While I do not foresee any major political reforms in this country, I still feel total obligations and responsibility to exercise my rights as a valid citizen who was born on this very soil.

And to sell my rights for RM 5.25 million, that’s a lil’ too cheap, don’t you think?

I guess it’s just another incentive for rewarding new and loyal members.
I mean, you could substitute “UMNO” with “Tesco” and “register in elections” with “register in loyalty card” and you still have one heck of a marketing strategy.
