Parliament: Sothinathan Challenges DAP Lady to A ‘Fight’

What is it with our Malaysian Parliament that makes MPs say the darndest things? In Parliament a day or two ago, S. Sothinathan (MIC) challenged Fong Po Kuan (DAP) to a fight. Thing is, Fong Po Kuan is a woman, so gender equality and all political correctness aside, Mr. Sothinathan should challenge someone his own size to ‘lawan’ him.

Actually, having viewed the entire video, I have to say that this whole debacle could have been avoided. It’s like two kids having a verbal taunting session in the playground. There’s the “my father is better/stronger/richer than your father” type of taunting. Then there’s the one where the kid is losing verbally and proceeds to challenge the other kid physically. Classic stuff.On one hand, you’ve got DAP making fun of MIC, telling Sothinathan that his MIC is totally subservient to UMNO. On the other hand, you get Sothinathan prolonging the whole thing by not focusing on the issue at hand, which was the astronomical rise of quit rent in Kedah.

In the end, 7 minutes of time wasted in Parliament on shouting matches. Again. My opinion is that both sides should be faulted and sometimes, MPs just need to take a deep breath and avoid all this unnecessary verbal sparring.

P.S. Was it me, or did the Tangga Batu MP say something like “babi dari Ipoh” at the end of the video?
