New Disclaimer On Comments
November 26, 2007
If you have visited my blog before, and have commented on my posts, thank you very much.
I have added a new disclaimer page regarding commenting on this blog. This past week, I have had to delete a few comments that I found to be racist or offensive. Here is the new disclaimer page. Disclaimer
I am a believer in free speech, but I find that allowing comments that are racist or anti-religion do not help towards fostering a mature discussion. There are forums that give you a chance to voice your opinions and stereotypes on other races and religions. This is not the place.
I am still new to blogging, and the goal of my blog is to share my views on current events, and also my views on the silly things that Malaysians say. I do not want to build an environment of intolerance for other people’s beliefs, so if you are intent on doing so, you could start exercising your right to free speech by starting a new blog. It takes less than 5 minutes.
Thanks!
If you’re a blogger as well, and have had to deal with such comments before, could you share with me how you handled it?

Way to go! I hope other bloggers will follow your example. We don’t have to slander to get any point across. All the best.
BTW, i enjoy reading your blog

You can’t say you believe in free speech and then say you disagree with racist comments!
Truth is, no matter what those moronic older bloggers tell you, there is no such thing as free speech.
Klaw: Ah well, let’s just agree to disagree like some people say. Hope you didn’t have any bad experiences last Sunday, as compared to Nov 10th.

Hi Vincent
I admire your passion to speak your mind on matters close to your heart and for the country. Point is, one don’t have to go down to the other’s level to rebutt on any issue. It just reflects back on oneself really.
Personally, i found it more effective to get one’s point across objectively and responsibly too… Meaning, i stand by what i say, by using my real name and not hide behind a nickname.
Now, that is “free speech” with responsibility.

This is my first, erm…, stupidest comment “stupid boy..stay in your jungle sarawak..and look after the orang utan..before coming to kl to teach us about justice..bodoh..”
It wasn’t racial, anti-religion either, but it clearly was born out of shallow minds yet full of ignorance that I could not imagine.
What did I do? I said “Hey “lelaki”,
Thank you for your comment. Do you have any jungle idea how excited I am? I’ve been eager for people to share their thoughts on my writing, what’s more with that kind you give that I so envy other bloggers. I can swing a thousand trees for that!
I don’t need to dignify your comment by rebutting it, because if you reread what you wrote (that is if you go out of that racist narrow low-intellectual mindset of yours), you’ll see that you had unwittingly become your own undoing.
Happy Deepavali! :)”
After then, I have never received that kind of comment anymore, so sad
Klaw: Haha, thanks for sharing your experience as well. You sure you want to keep receiving those kinds of comments?

Oh ok, I shall try to abide by your rules and as for have I as a blogger ever encountered such comment…can’s say seeing that mine isnt a political blog.
Though I have perverts emailing me bout how much they wanna lick my feet. Yeah…pretty fucked up shit. In which I resorted to either just blocking them or sending them virus that will messed up their system.
Depends on my mood really.
Klaw: hahha, I’ve read your blog as well, and it doesn’t look like it would attract such perverts. Maybe your college/uni-mates pulling your feet?
