During The Election, Money Matters
February 13, 2008
Money matters. That’s the simple and undeniable fact. Certainly, there’s no denying that love, happiness, and health are equally or more important, but money ranks pretty high up there. That is why Malaysians are united in their concern for the bread and butter issues like rising domestic prices, wages, unemployment, etc. It’s all about the money.
During the elections, most of the time, the party with the most money wins. How? The party with the most money might use the money to bribe voters who are mired in poverty. The party with the most money might also use the money to promise development to a certain constituency, use the money to pave roads, use the money to suddenly decide to build schools, all these goodies right before the election. Where do all these millions come from? One suspects that the tax payer’s money is used.
There are those who despite knowing deep down within themselves that the government is doing a god awful shitty job with a performance rating of F, they will still vote Barisan Nasional. One of the reasons is that they feel that the present government is corrupt and useless, but the opposition is not capable enough to run this country. So in the end, they decide to vote for the known evil rather than the unknown. My message to these people: BE MORE OUTRAGED. Think about how this known evil is using your money on luxuries and public wastage, when the money could have been spent to improve the people’s lives.
RM4.6 billion. That’s how much the Port Klang Free Zone fiasco cost us. With RM4.6 billion dollars, imagine how you could use this money to improve the country. Go wild with your imagination.
Poverty eradication programs. More football fields and playgrounds. More public parks. Improved public transportation. Crime prevention programs.
Like I said, money matters, and if the opposition were given access to such money, I cannot say surely if they can do a better job, but I certainly know that they won’t take this money for granted. Can you say the same about the present government (now that Parliament has been dissolved, are they technically the previous government)?
Therefore, I have decided to put the money where my mouth is and contribute to a certain political party’s election fund. I didn’t donate much, probably enough to buy lunch for 20 volunteers on polling day in Ipoh Timur, but at least, I contribute knowing that my money will be spent carefully, and not on RM200 dollar screw driver sets, or vacations for the undeserving and lying Prime Minister and his wife.
RM4.6 billion spent bailing out the Port Klang Free Zone. Millions paid as compensation for the Johor-Singapore crooked bridge that was never build. Maika scandal. All the rakyat’s money has been wasted and are now irrecoverable. Basically, duit masuk longkang. So make your money matter for once.

Bread and butter issues
Have we ever progressed at all?
Over 50 years of BN rule
So many lies; so many heartaches
So many corruption; so many bailouts
Our tax money all go to waste
We are suppose to be the ‘King’
We haven’t got it straight since
BN rules the nation
We are just puppet on the strings
Damn we have been fooled!
So now it is payback time
Let this election be the right tonic
Change the landscape
Let something new for a change
Money matters in everything we do
We agree for the right choices
Yet we have seen the BN government did
Spending money like water flowing forever
All those failed and cronies projects
RHB no case for Rashid Hussein
PKFZ bailed out by the government
Indah Bi-water too
Even TNB rate increase to show a better profit
Yes projects then aborted agreement
Pay compensation running to millions
And the bad CEO
We are asked to pay
Billions out to his cronies
Do we need BN anymore?
Over 50 years under BN
It is again bread and butter
Rising costs pockets full of holes
A sad day if people don’t change
