Malaysia vs. 3rd World Countries

Imagine a scenario, where I was a politician. Doesn’t matter which party (ok, say BN la). Let’s imagine a Q&A session, where I was asked about my views on the situation in this country.

Q: What do you think of poverty in Malaysia?
A: Poverty in Malaysia is not as bad as reported. Under the BN government, we have less poor people than Somalia.

Q: How about the rising level of crime?
A: Well, let’s look at it this way, we have crime for sure. But under the BN government, it is still not as bad as the crime levels in Iraq, where ordinary citizens get kidnapped everyday.

Q: Ok, what are your views on the issue of peaceful assembly in Malaysia? Why do police not allow peaceful assemblies.
A: Our police is actually not doing too bad a job. For example, if you really want to look at police brutality, look no further than Burma. They have even less freedom of speech there, and under the BN government, we actually allow more freedom of speech than Burma.

Hahaha. Let’s snap back to reality. If I were the politician, wouldn’t you think that I was a classic dumbass, for comparing my country with other less developed 3rd world countries? You wouldn’t believe any politician would be so stupid as to come up with such answers right? If you don’t believe it, I would like to welcome you to Malaysia, where politicians say the darndest (and stupidest) things. I introduce to you an MCA politician called Donald Lim Siang Chai (also Malaysia’s deputy tourism minister).

Malaysiakini reports that in a closed-door election forum held in St Francis Xavier’s Church last week, similar answers as the scenarios above came straight from the mouth of Petaling Jaya Selatan parliamentary candidate, Donald Lim.

Donald Lim
Sometimes, he also acts in HK movies, especially those gambling ones

When explaining how the country was doing well, Donald Lim compared on how Malaysia is doing better than Burma, so we are basically doing well. He did not do it once, but several times, and he was subsequently boo-ed by the forum attendants. Kudos to the forum attendants for boo-ing him for such stupid answers.

It was proven in St Francis Xavier’s Church last night that comparing how Malaysia is better off than Burma will only result in boos and jeers.

This was the response that Petaling Jaya Selatan (PJS) parliamentary incumbent Donald Lim received when he used the same example on how well the country is doing - several times.

“Under the BN leadership, we are doing much better than Burma …” he said before he was interrupted by boos and jeers.

It’s such a pity sometimes. Petaling Jaya voters are among the more well-educated voters in this country, and yet they are insulted by BN who fields a candidate (in fact, he’s the incumbent) who does not even know how to deal with questions on national issues. Does Donald Lim deserve to be voted into Parliament, which is the paramount forum for discussing national issues in Malaysia?

We’ll let the educated voters in Petaling Jaya decide. If Donald Lim gets voted back into Parliament, then I really got nothing to say (except, shame on you PJ Selatan).

Donald Lim Siang Chai says the darndest things!

No BN

I think what most people are looking for in a candidate is the ability to ask question.
doesn’t matter if they can do a good job, so as long as they can twist and turn questions to their favour.
And i think u are such person.

PJ Selatan is a large constituency, population wise. Not all are ‘educated” voters so the implication that PJS is likely to vote the incumbent out is not a done deal. Donald Lim will rely heavily on UMNO support to retain his place.

Unless he pissed off the UMNO supporters with drivel such as these.

OMNO is strong b.cos the malays themselves do not make a radical change these 50 years. Now the plot is different. The political power will be tipped in the Barisan Rakyat ’s favour this time b.cos Malays now want a CHANGE! If the politically-respectable Malays want the CHANGE there is nothing that can stop them. We must in turn respect this Malay battle-cry for CHANGE! and what more, this is also the SAME WISH of most MALAYSIANS!No more 513, we want to turn the ” 5 ” upsidedown into ” 2 ” IT IS NOW 213…. 2 1 3….. Parliament was destined by God to be dissolved by “religious” PM on Feb 13 ( 213 ) to pave the way for the birth of a NEW MALAYSIA in the form of a new PEOPLE’S FRONT called BARISAN RAKYAT. So the next time we mention the name “barisan” it may also mean Barisan Rakyat the blessed one. It is now BR or BN. The TWO-PARTY wish of all loyal Malaysians.

And, I do hope this time the GE will have some upset results and let it be a positive new and transparent Malaysia (before we called ourselves a democratic country!). Hopefully Malaysia can do a Barack Obama stunner!

    Cheers!

This little uncle always had said stupid things. One example I could provide is… At Jan 2006, a young UUM graduate named Chee Gaik Yap was raped and killed. This case got reported by mass media for few days, this little uncle made a statement where asked the media to stop reporting the news because “this will affect our country’s reputation”.

    ahfook,
I read your blog. If this little uncle did say that in his capacity as deputy tourism minister, then it’s not a stupid thing he said. It’s just disgusting and plain f-ed up.

no need to doubt about this. he said it alrite. thats the mental capacity of MCA leaders and they are sent to Parliament where laws are changed and enacted. God forbid. A consolation though. At leas, he didnt compare us with Timbuktu or Zimbabwee where the inflation rate is counted DAILY ( and not yearly).

You know what, we are lucky that we stay in Malaysia. You see, we are doing way better than Africa where famine is common there. Here, we have plenty of roti canai and nasi lemak for everyone. BN will ensure that everyone has the chance to eat those.

Last but not least, i hope for world peace -__-Y
