Final Ceramah in Ipoh
March 8, 2008
Was at the final DAP ceramah for the 12th General Elections, and only arrived at 11pm due to the traffic from KL to Ipoh. Managed to catch Fong Po Kuan railing about the angkasawan waste of money, and Lim Kit Siang highlighting the lies printed by TheStar. I estimate probably around 10K ppl there, even though the announcers insisted it was 15K.
I don’t have pics, and you can find them pics at my fellow Ipoh blogger’s blogs, Sensintrovert and Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin.
According to Maverick of Cakap Tak Serupa Bikin, the MCA was having a ceramah just opposite the street, which managed to pull in… *hold your breaths* … 200 people. If this is indicative of voting patterns, MCA chances during polling is practically crushed.
At the end of the night, when the donations were still being counted, they managed to collect RM70,000 from Ipoh people. Wow! Generous people!
Anyway, I better go to bed. I signed up as a polling agent/counting agent for the Ipoh Timur constituency, like Howsy from Sensintrovert, but I have no idea if my application was processed properly because I was still in KL. Nevertheless, I already attended the training in Damansara Uptown a few days ago, and I’m good to go (if DAP still wants my service).
I’ll have to wake up at 6am, and meet up the Canning organizer in Kampung Simee tomorrow morning at 7am, just to check if I am eligible to be a polling/counting agent. Wish me luck!
And Malaysia, good luck!
