Ka Chuan Plays Sore Loser
March 11, 2008
Just read that Ong Ka Chuan, the MCA secretary-general, has called on DAP to apologize to the people of Perak. He claims that DAP has ‘duped’ the voters into believing that DAP is not working with PAS, and there is even a possibility of a PAS assemblyman to be the Menteri Besar of Perak.
Ong Ka Chuan, who managed to rise back to power after contesting in a safe seat in Tanjong Malim, has this to say:

“All this while, the DAP has been denying that it is working with PAS when they sought the support of the Chinese community in Perak during the campaigning period,” he said.
“After getting their votes, the DAP is doing otherwise,” he said yesterday when commenting on the new ruling coalition government of the DAP, PKR and PAS.
The DAP, he said, should apologise to the voters for having duped them about not working together with PAS when wooing them before the just-concluded polls.
Ong, who is also the MCA secretary-general, said the DAP might even go to the extent of allowing a PAS leader to be the new Mentri Besar.
“How are they going to explain to the Chinese community? The DAP had not been honest right from the start,” he asked.
The DAP should have told the community right from the beginning that they were cooperating with PAS so that the voters would be able to make a wise decision at the ballot box, he said.
“Now the DAP is doing otherwise. I feel sad that the situation has become like this,” he added.
“The people gave the DAP their trust and this is how the DAP is repaying them – by working with an Islamist party,” said the newly-elected Tanjong Malim MP.
In the spirit of cooperation on bringing down the BN state government in Perak, PAS cannot be ignored. The goal is to clean up and rule the Perak state government with transparency and accountability, something that has been missing from the state government for decades. Therefore, there needs to be a coalition with PAS to achieve this.
As for the appointment of a PAS member as Menteri Besar, the people should already know by now that the Perak constitution requires the Menteri Besar to be a Muslim-Malay, unless there is consent given by the Sultan of Perak to do otherwise. Therefore, 3 names have been submitted by PAS, PKR, and DAP, and the Sultan now holds the prerogative on who would be the Menteri Besar. If this were UMNO-MCA-MIC, do you think a MCA member would EVER get the chance to become a Menteri Besar? Fat fucking hopes, Ka Chuan.
It really doesn’t matter to me which party the Menteri Besar comes from, as long as the person is clean, hard-working, and able to keep the coalition united against the opposition. Even if a PAS member is Menteri Besar, he will never get the approval to implement Islamic laws in the state of Perak, because they only have 7 seats in the assembly. Ka Chuan should know this right (or maybe he really doesn’t)? So what’s important is transparency and accountability in government, and I have full confidence that a PAS-PKR-DAP Menteri Besar can fulfill this.
As for Ong Ka Chuan, there’s such thing as sour grapes, and you’re really starting to look like one. You lost the Kinta Valley even though you engaged in your version of pork-barrel politics, and you should graciously accept that the people in Kinta Valley do not trust you or your party to lead us.

he ran away from batu gajah to a safe seat to contest. so much for balls anyway. simply put it, he doesnt represent me, a malaysian. he is like KJ, protected by someone higher in the hierachy. if OKT goes, so does he. thats so much respect he has in his own party. what legitimacy does he has talking about other parties. no, the opposition in perak is not dap, its mca and the retinue of goons.

according to the federal constitution (go blame BN for amending it more than 200 times to cater to bumiputera’s privileges), the perak menteri besar must be a malay muslim. so technically the MB must be from PKR or PAS.
DAP wins in a way that 9 members of the exco will be from them. 2 each will be from PKR and PAS. hence DAP will still have the most say.
stupid ong ka chuan. and damn him to mislead the people again!

Even if PAS were to implement Islamic rules, it will only be imposed on Muslims. Plus Islamic rules is very transparent, isnt that good?

yh,
Yes, I believe that OKT is willing to step down as MCA president next term because he might be paving the way for OKC to succeed him.
One has to ask as well, so many people calling Badawi to resign because he has lost. Has anyone told OKC to resign as secretary-general because he led the assault on Kinta Valley and got annihilated?
Pandankia,
Yes, the DAP should have the most say, and I am sure they should be able to play nice with both PKR and PAS.
menj,
As a PAS member yourself, have you finally decided to give the DAP a chance, like how DAP is willing to give PAS a chance to lead the state of Perak?
NoktahHitam,
As a non-Muslim myself, I would not want to see Islamic laws being imposed on Muslims only. But PAS will not be able to do that in Perak, because they do not lead the state.
eksk,
We should ask for OKC’s resignation instead right!

Ong Kah Chuan is an asshole. On top of that he is a bloody disgrace to all Chinese in Malaysia. He is just want of those people who are using dirty tactics to derail the new coalition government before they can even start to undo the very deeds OKC and his band of MCA thugs have committed on Perak and Kedah. Ignore the bugger, let him shout and rant. Stay on course Malaysians, we did the right thing to vote against assholes like OKC. Let’s focus on rebuilding Malaysia together.

Ong Ka Chuan is talking from a position of weakness. MCA could not control Penang and not any where else either. Not relevant.
PAS is playing its cards correctly. It imposes Islamic laws where it is completely in control such as Kelantan. To do so in Perak, Penang, Kedah or Selangor where it does not hold majority will be suicidal.
In the end, PAS is also a political party and this is how the game is played. Perhaps in the next GE, it might win >50% of the seats in say, Terenganu and Kedah. Then you will see Islamic laws inposed but not before.

OKC is just trying to stir up and create racism. in a way he must be quite ignorant of what Malaysians want. I get the impression that Malaysians no longer want a race-based system. He is still living in his race-based world - so outdated!
Well said Kenny, if the PAS guy can deliver what the Perak people want and ensure transparency and accountability in government, then it doesn’t matter if the MB is a PAS guy. It should all be performance based, not race-based!
shame on OKC!
