A Simple Advice To Lim Si Pin
April 22, 2008
Another new entrant to the blogging arena is BN and Gerakan politician, Lim Si Pin. Mr. Lim is famous recently for being conclusively beaten by Tian Chua of PKR in the recently concluded 12th General Elections in the parliamentary seat of Batu. Mr. Lim is also the son of Lim Keng Yaik, who readers of this blog would know that I am not a fan of. Of course, a father does not maketh the son, so it would be unfair of me to judge Lim Si Pin based on his father’s words or actions.
After reading through a few of his blog posts, I have discovered the following:
1. Lim Si Pin has a certain sense of sarcasm (not entirely a bad thing, IMHO).
2. Thou shalt not distort or make fun of Lim Si Pin’s name. If Badawi were so sensitive about names as Lim Si Pin, he would have died by now.
3. Lim Si Pin thinks that Opposition politicians getting honorific titles are not appropriate due to lack of service to the state. One might also ask Mr Lim of his opinion of Ong Ka Chuan, his colleague in BN, what he has done to deserve his title.
Overall, I am still waiting for Lim Si Pin to post something on how he and his party Gerakan plan to develop a ‘harmonious and united Bangsa Malaysia’, when the main coalition members in Barisan Nasional have absolutely no inclination of ever wanting a Bangsa Malaysia to emerge.
Gerakan should not kid themselves and think that they can effect change from within the government, because they have been doing that for decades without any significant success. The recent calls by Gerakan to release the Hindraf 5 have also seemingly fallen on deaf ears. What say you, Lim Si Pin? What is the future of Gerakan as a ‘multi-racial’ party in a racial coalition like BN (that coincidentally only fielded Chinese candidates during the last elections. I’m sure it was just a coincidence right)?
My one advice to Lim Si Pin: If you’re serious about blogging and discovering the people’s voice, then I suggest you open up your commenting system without requiring people to log in. Unless you are a big shot blogger or politician like Lim Kit Siang or Jeff Ooi, no one will bother registering and remembering another frigging password, much less logging in to your website and leaving you a comment.
Lim Si Pin’s blog can be found at http://www.limsipin.com
If you are lazy to remember another login or password to another blog, feel free to leave your comments for Lim Si Pin here. ![]()

Ya, it’s interesting to see all these politicians suddenly discover the internet
Lim Kit Siang also has registration necessary on his blog I think?

LC_Teh,
A grammatical transgression that I am guilty of once in a while
julian,
I think it’s a good thing, as it gives us an avenue to get to know a politician better and his views on current issues (if he/she does blog about it).
And yeah, Lim Kit Siang also makes registration necessary. I think it helps to prevent anonymous commenters to post something slanderous and makes it easier to regulate/moderate, especially when each post gets more than 100 comments. As at this moment, Lim Si Pin’s blog hasn’t reached such a critical mass yet.

ycg, amoker,
I’m still waiting for a post on Gerakan’s future in BN, if he ever writes it. I am intrigued by a so called multi-racial party that selects to stay in BN, which is made up by the few racially based parties (and a couple of racist ones)
