Najib Off The Hook: Another Twist In The Tale

Yesterday, Malaysians were sent reeling over the shock revelations in P. Balasubramaniam’s statutory declaration that specifically linked DPM Najib Razak with murdered Mongolian national, Altantuya Shariibuu.

Well, we haven’t even recovered from the initial shock, when the most shocking news of the day comes in the form of P. Balasubramaniam retracting portions of his statutory declaration today. He claimed that he was forced to make the earlier declaration under duress.

In his new statutory declaration, he retracts the following statements:

a) Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that he was introduced to Altantuya Shaariibuu by a VIP;

b) Najib Razak informed Abdul Razak Baginda that he had a sexual relationship with Altantuya Shaariibuu and that she was susceptible to anal intercourse;

c) Najib Razak instructed Abdul Razak Baginda to look after Altantuya Shaariibuu as he did not want her to harass him since he was the deputy prime minister;

d) Najib Razak, Abdul Razak Baginda and Altantuya Shaariibuu had met and all been together at a dinner in Paris;

e) Altantuya Shaariibuu wanted money in the sum of US$500,000 as a commission for a submarine deal she assisted with in Paris;

f) Altantuya Shaariibuu met Najib Razak in Singapore;

g) Altantuya Shaariibuu wanted me to arrange to see Najib Razak;

h) I told the police about the relationship between Najib Razak and Altantuya Shaariibuu but when it came to sign my statement this detail was left out;i) The prosecutor during the course of the trial in the High Court of Shah Alam did not ask me any questions in respect of Altantuya Shaariibuu’s purported relationship with Najib Razak or of a phone call I received from one DSP Musa Safri, whom I believe was the ADC to Najib Razak and/or his wife;

j) Abdul Razak Baginda informed me that he had sent Najib Razak an SMS the evening before he was arrested but did not receive a response; and

k) Najib Razak sent an SMS to Abdul Razak Baginda on the day of his arrest to the effect that he was going to see the IGP that day and that the matter should be resolved and for Abdul Razak Baginda to remain calm.

Basically, this means that like how Najib’s involvement was never allowed to be brought up in court, Najib purported links to Altantuyaa are now shot to pieces.

You could place Jeffrey Archer as the writer and M. Night Shyamalan as the director, and you wouldn’t even get so many plot twists as the unfolding saga of power play in Malaysia.

As a normal Malaysian citizen, I see these events in a very negative light.

Who put Balasubraniam under duress? Does PKR have the ability and resources to put Balasubramaniam under duress? Was Balasubramaniam threatened by powerful people yesterday? Who are the powerful people that are pulling the strings behind this entire story? Is the sodomy case against Anwar related to this case?

Unfortunately, us normal Malaysians will never get the true answers, and we will slowly see the country being run to the ground by the game of politics and all the dirty players who are the self-serving politicians.

By the way, please take part in the poll below and let me know what you think in the comments.

UPDATE 2.43pm 4th July 2008: From Malaysiakini
Balasubramaniam’s lawyer has told Malaysiakini that Balasubramaniam was contacted by the police soon after his press conference yesterday. He last saw his client after dropping him off at the Brickfields police station at 4.45pm.

UPDATE 4.15pm 4th July 2008: From Nathaniel Tan
“Balasubramaniam’s statutory declaration was affirmed before commissioner of oaths Zainal Abidin Muhayat, bearing an address that is traced to Zul Rafique & Partners - a pro-establishment law firm owned by Zulkifly Rafique who is Federal Territories minister Zulhasnan Rafique’s brother. “

    i was right! Najib has sent his best-of-the-best hitman to ‘talk’ to PI. That why he was so calm yesterday in front of the packed crowd. The cunning fox has considered every single factor :D

    Sex and the C4

    Sodomy is a useful word
    recently said and heard,
    in Malaysian homes and offices
    it’s all about famous orifices.
    What is going on, you wonder
    when Bala steals the thunder,
    finger pointing the magic word
    to the delight of a horny herd
    Organs united, names forgotten?
    VIPs are really rotten
    Saiful he knows and did not know
    doubts about Aminah begin to grow
    of whose loose lips he was afraid
    but liked her other end instead;
    of course he knew it wasn’t right
    but it felt so good and tight!
    You could not hump like Greeks
    the Hindenburg’s fat cheeks;
    what her hubby found so succulent
    was making Rosmah trucculent.
    And so she thought, the time was due
    for a nice Mongolian barbecue.
    Enter the analyst, not so anal,
    who found the girl too banal;
    fearing supernatural harm
    from her juicy feminine charm,
    he hired Bala straightaway
    to keep the honeytrap at bay
    but private dicks were of no match
    for Aminah’s superlative snatch
    and now that Najib had had his fill,
    he would not share the till;
    right after the submarine deal,
    Aminah’s fate he would seal.
    Now Rosmah had one idea
    on how to kenakan dia
    “Let’s bomb the bombshell,
    let’s send her to hell.”
    Thus perished the hapless beauty
    after translation and booty duty;
    now Rosmah’s ass was happy
    until one blogger got yappy;
    this Hindenburg nearly caught fire
    yet to sue she has no desire.
    But Najib’s part in this murder
    will travel much further;
    despite his media actions
    and one or two retractions,
    some questions will remain
    a big part of his bane–
    how did Altantuya really die?
    and why did he have to lie?
    Did he pay off Bala savvily,
    or threaten to C4 his family?
    What acts could be more despised?
    With his money, we’re not surprised;
    after all, he’s such a bully beast,
    to him and him alone, at least,
    magic words that cannot apply–
    are useful for making rivals die.
