Why Strike? Government Will Start Working?

Wong Chun Wai proudly proclaimed that bloggers were on strike yesterday, accompanied by the Star headline that Malaysians are simply fed-up.

Many bloggers that I’ve read have stated their displeasure at Wong Chun Wai and The Star that tries to generalize that bloggers are on strike.

Let me just state that:

a) Rocky and Marina Mahathir do not represent all bloggers, and neither have they claimed to represent all bloggers on strike

b) Malaysians might be fed up that not much real governing is being done, but honestly, even without the Anwar-Saiful-Najib-Balasubramaniam saga last week, it is already clear that the government has not been doing much governing.

What TheStar and Wong Chun Wai is trying to do is divert the people’s attention that the sagas from last week caused the government to stop working. I would like to ask, where are the reforms on the police commission to curb police abuses? How about concrete steps to improve public transportation over the money saved from reducing subsidies? If world crude oil prices continue to rise, and no more fuel price increase, does it mean that the money saved to improve transportation is no longer there? Where are the next rounds of judicial reforms (where the PM does not have the say in selecting judges)? What are the few concrete steps to stem inflation? When will politicians stop trying to defend Ketuanan Melayu, and talk about helping all Malaysians when most, if not all Malaysians need help? When will things be implemented? I don’t know when.

So how now? Blame Anwar? Blame Saiful? Blame Najib? Blame Altantuyaa? Blame Bala? Or blame the government who has the real power to do work, but is not working (that applies to both BN and PR)?
