AirAsia To Weigh Their Passengers And Charge The Fat Ones
August 6, 2008
AirAsia X, the long-haul arm of Air Asia has been considering weighing their passengers to calculate the overall weight of the aircraft and also potentially imposing extra fees for overweight passengers.
The General Manager, Darren Wright (possibly an Australian) said that the company would consider this measure especially in the wake of rising fuel costs.
He also added that this move would also help Aussies to lose some weight.
This piece of news has reached news sources all over the world, and most of them have identified Air Asia as a Malaysian-based carrier (Nama negara busuk lagi, hahaha).

Of course, Air Asia has now denied this plan, and chief executive Azran Osman Rani had indicated that the General Manager was just joking.

pinky,
Supposedly they just want to make sure the airplane does not go overweight gua. I wonder, hehe.
weiqi,
Actually some airlines in US got rule that if the passenger is seriously obese, they will have to purchase another ticket.

But I don’t think AirAsia has 4 seats side-by-side.
I’ll probably have to get 4
